After years of having to game plan against him, Melbourne United Assistant Coach Jacob Chance is excited to finally be on the same side as Chris Goulding.

Throughout his six years in the NBL with the Perth Wildcats and Tasmania JackJumpers, Chance has experienced his fair-share of CG43 magic, telling The Extra Pass podcast that he is one of the scariest players in the league as a coach.

“He (Goulding) has got that amazing ability as a player, I think him and Bryce (Cotton) are the two (players) probably in our league that you’re just always scared of,” he said.

“I haven’t had a lot to do with Chris other than being on the bad end of big games for a lot of my career.

“You come into a game and maybe it’s the fourth quarter, maybe he’s had a poor night, but it doesn’t matter, you’re just terrified of what could come, especially here at John Cain Arena.

“The best players will never let you take a rest, whether they’re a world class shooter like Chris, or maybe they’re an unbelievable offensive rebounder like Jack White… they can take a game away from you in a quarter if you’re really not careful.”

During his meetings with Chance, Goulding has put together some spectacular performances, including a pair of 20-plus-point outings in Games One and Two of the NBL21 Grand Final series.

Equally exciting for Chance is the opportunity to work alongside Matthew Dellavedova, who returns to United following a year spent playing in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings.

“Delly I was lucky enough to spend a little bit of time with in the Boomers program back in June, but they’re just two world class guys in terms of their approach and how they go about it,” he added.

“I’ll definitely learn more from them than they learn from me. I’m just happy to be around them and be exposed to them and help them where I can.”

The only way you can make sure you’ve got a seat to see Goulding and Dellavedova back on the court together is by becoming a member today!
