Having led Melbourne United to the league’s best record at the FIBA break, NBL legend Lanard Copeland has praised Head Coach Dean Vickerman for his leadership abilities.
Speaking on NBL NOW’s Mid-Season Review for United, Copeland spoke glowingly about the three-time Coach of the Year winner, who also moved into 10th all-time for NBL wins following Melbourne’s Round 9 victory over Adelaide.
“Dean is the most consistent coach in this era,” he said.
“He gets the most out of his players, he motivates them, he never has any problems with his imports, the culture that he drives is infectious with the players, and they’re always in the mix, they always have a chance to do something.
“It’s just him pushing those guys and getting the most out of his players.”
The next win Vickerman records will also see him move into ninth all-time for victories with 217.
Vickerman’s 63.2% winning percentage is the second highest among all coaches to have coached more than 200 games, trailing only Brian Goorjian.
He will lead United when we next take the court for our next game against the Sydney Kings on 1 December from 2:30pm at John Cain Arena.
