The three-time NBL Coach of the Year winner will join Adam Caporn’s new Boomers staff

Melbourne United Head Coach Dean Vickerman will join the Australian Boomers coaching staff for the FIBA 2025 Asia Cup and beyond as Associate Head Coach.

Vickerman will serve in this position underneath new Boomers Head Coach, Adam Caporn.

Vickerman, who is currently in the midst of his quest for a fourth NBL Championship, has previously served as Boomers interim Head Coach across a number of FIBA Breaks.

Caporn spoke glowingly about having Vickerman as a key member of his staff moving forward.

“A very highly regarded and experienced coach,” was how he described Vickerman to ESPN.

“We’ve both worked for Andrej Lemanis, and I’ve seen him in other FIBA campaigns – World University Games and other things – and followed his NBL team closely. Really excited to have him on staff. I love the way Dean’s teams play but, more importantly, how they compete, and how much he pours into developing the culture of his teams.”

To this point in his career as an NBL Head Coach, Vickerman has amassed 228 wins (7th all-time) in 362 games.
