After four preseason games, Melbourne United is ready to head up to the Gold Coast to take on the rest of the league at the NBL Blitz.
One player who didn’t take to the court across those four games is Matthew Dellavedova, who has returned to the club following a year spent in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings.
Now back in Melbourne, Dellavedova believes he is physically in better condition compared to his last stint in the NBL, one which saw him connected on over to three pointers per game at an elite 43% shooting clip.
Speaking on The Extra Pass podcast, Dellavedova talked about how he’s feeling, and how excited he is to play alongside United’s stacked NBL24 lineup.
“I can get to the rim a bit more, I can get into the lane, my legs feel a lot stronger,” he said.
“Just having played more consistent basketball over the last two years versus coming in (last time)... I’m excited to get going and get the season started.
“Dean and the club recruit great people and that’s part of why I had so much fun here two years ago and it’s why I think Melbourne United’s been so successful for such a long period of time.
“I think it just makes it enjoyable to come in each day and work hard and get better. You have guys that really want to do that to better the team and better their individual games so they can go on to continue to improve as well.
“We’ve got a great mix of young hungry guys coming in and veterans that know how to play and have tasted a lot of success.”
Melbourne United’s first game of the Blitz will be on Saturday evening when they face the Brisbane Bullets on Saturday 16 September from 7:30pm. All games will be streamed live on Kayo Freebies.
