Melbourne United are set to kick off the final stage of their pre-season up on the Gold Coast with three games at the NBL Blitz. First, Melbourne will face off against the Cairns Taipans on Friday evening.

Looking at each team’s form coming into the contest, there’s not a lot to go on, especially in the case of the Taipans.

While United have played a pair of pre-season games, resulting in one win and one loss, the Taipans are yet to take to the court and show off their completely revamped lineup in the lead up to NBL25.

Looking back to last season, Cairns will take significant confidence into their matchup with Melbourne, having come away with all three wins when the teams last met.

STARS COLLIDE

All eyes will be on the guard matchup come Friday night, as fresh-faced import Rob Edwards matches up with Matthew Dellavedova.

Looking to make a strong first impression within the NBL, Edwards will have to contend with the dogged defence of Dellavedova, while doing his best to slow down last season’s leading assist man.
