History of winning steered Krebs to Melbourne

When weighing up his options on where he wanted to continue his NBL career, Tanner Krebs only had one thing on his mind: winning.

Following three years with the Brisbane Bullets, Krebs made the decision to head south, signing with Melbourne United.

Having qualified for the postseason five of the last six seasons, the club’s proven track record of contending for Championships proved too enticing for the 27-year-old to turn down.

“I’m a winner, or I like to think of myself as a winner and I’m competitive and I want to win,” Krebs told The Extra Pass.

“I felt like Melbourne United was the best place for me to do that.”

Having enjoyed tremendous success throughout his college career at St Mary’s University in California, the sweet-shooting wing believes there are many similarities between United and the Gael’s program.

“I see similarities between Melbourne and St Mary's in terms of it’s like a family,” he explained.

“One thing I’ve noticed and gets talked about a lot with St Mary’s is all the people that come back and visit and during the summers are playing pick-up. Everyone comes back to St Mary’s… and I get that same feeling from Melbourne.

“Jack White and (Jock) Landale who are playing elsewhere are all going to come back here during their offseason to work out and scrimmage. It’s very similar and you can see the close-knit family style around the club.

“For me that was a big attraction point coming here because I saw those similarities and I think that just breeds success when you have that culture at the club.”

The only way to be there for every game of Tanner Krebs’ journey with United is to become a member today!
