Humphries on the brink of history

United big man Isaac Humphries has showcased his dominant rim protection across Melbourne’s first four games, and is close to setting a league record because of it.

One of the NBL’s premier shot-blockers, ‘Ice’ as he’s known to his teammates, has consistently challenged all comers at the rim, often resulting in his opponent having their attempt sent into the third row.

After tallying nine rejections through his first four games, which has him at the top of the league’s ranking for blocks per game, Humphries now sits on 94 blocks across his 55 career games.

Once the 24-year-old sends away six more shots, he will become the only player in the NBL’s 40-minute era to accumulate 100 blocks before their 25th birthday.

Only two players to have even registered 90 blocks before hitting 25 (Will Magnay and Sam Froling), however both have played significantly more games than Humphries.

The only way to make sure you’re in the building to see Ice hit this major milestone is to secure your seat for United’s pair of games at John Cain Arena in Round 4.

Melbourne host the Cairns Taipans on Thursday night from 7:30pm before welcoming back the Sydney Kings on Sunday from 4pm for the Grassroots Game.

Tickets for both games are available here!
