Melbourne United is thrilled to announce that star forward Jack White has extended his contract with the club, keeping him with United through the end of the 2024/25 season.
The Traralgon native came back in a big way in NBL22 following his recovery from a torn achilles, further establishing himself as one of the league’s best athletes and most elite offensive rebounders.
White averaged career highs in points, rebounds, field goal percentage and individual plus/minus, while helping United win 20 of the 26 games he appeared in.
As the 25-year-old heads into the offseason with an eye on continued improvement and development, he told Melbourne United Media how excited he is to be staying with the club.
“I’m super excited to be coming back to Melbourne United.
“I love this club, I love the people around this club and I love the culture we have. In my short time with the club I’ve had an unbelievable experience not only on the court but building relationships with everyone involved here.
“I can’t wait to get back on the court and help the club contend for another championship.”
The announcement is one Head Coach Dean Vickerman welcomes as he looks to lead United towards another championship season.
“We’re so excited to have Jack locked in for the next three seasons.
“We knew the quality of person we were getting when we brought him in, but to see him go through the injury and see his dedication to his rehab to come back and improve upon his first season with us was a credit to him and our medical staff.
“He had a really good year, but we think the upside of what we’ve seen so far is exciting because we don’t know how far he can go… he’s got a really aggressive mindset that will allow him to go to another level.”
These sentiments were echoed by CEO Nick Truelson, who praised White’s professionalism and leadership.
“When you think about culture and the type of players you want to build your club around, Jack White epitomises all of these traits.
“On and off the court Jack is a leader and someone everyone within the club highly respects and wants to see have success now and into the future.
“As we look to bounce back after our earlier than expected exit from this year’s finals series, having players like Jack wanting to extend with us for the long term should excite our members, partners and fans.”
As White and Melbourne look towards next season, it’s Time To Unite. NBL23 Memberships are on sale now and are the best way to support your club in their pursuit of another NBL Championship banner.
