Melbourne United is pleased to announce that Rob Loe will return to the club for the NBL25 campaign on a one-year contract.
The big man from New Zealand played eight games for United across NBL24 as the team’s Nominated Replacement Player, averaging 5.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in less than 15 minutes per game.
In his eight appearances, Melbourne put together a 7-1 record.
Having returned to Auckland where he is currently playing in the NZNBL, Loe said he is ecstatic to be heading back to Melbourne.
“I enjoyed my time with United so much, my teammates were great, the organisation was great, the coaching staff were great, so when Dean and the team reached out to me about NBL25 I just got really excited,” he explained.
“The buzz around the team while I was here within the community was just huge, which makes playing so much fun. Melbourne has always been one of my favourite places to play, it’s one of the sporting capitals of the world so getting to play there again is awesome.
“I can’t wait to get back out there and join the team again.”
Looking at the impact he made in his short time with United, Head Coach Dean Vickerman touched on why bringing back Loe was such a priority.
“In the time that he spent with us to start the season, we thought he was elite in so many areas,” he said.
“His IQ, his defensive ability to play within our structure and our system, and the ability to be a motion-maker and a decision-maker with his shooting ability are things that make him special.”
So far this NZNBL season, Loe is averaging 20.6 points, 12 rebounds and five assists per game, while shooting the ball at 48% from deep on close to six attempts a night.
Loe joins Chris Goulding, Matthew Dellavedova, Shea Ili, Luke Travers, Kyle Bowen, Flynn Cameron and Tanner Krebs as contracted players for the NBL25 season.
