Melbourne United has finalised its NBL24 roster with the addition of Zac Triplett to the main roster.
Triplett has spent the last two seasons with MU as a Development Player, where he appeared in 19 games. Triplett’s deal includes a club option for NBL25.
The 21-year-old sharpshooter is coming off a strong season in the NBL1 South with the Keilor Thunder, averaging 16.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per night.
Head Coach Dean Vickerman touched on Zac’s development over the past two seasons and how he believes he can contribute to United’s NBL24 campaign.
“Over his time with us Zac has really grown both physically and as an athlete,” he said.
“He’s a great, confident shooter that we know can come in and make smart plays while stretching the floor.
“Knowing your role within this league is crucial, and Zac is someone that knows how to execute his role perfectly within the game plan."
Following Triplett’s elevation, United has signed Tom Koppens as a Development Player for the NBL24 campaign.
Koppens, who has been playing with MU as a training player across the offseason, is coming off a standout season playing with the Sandringham Sabres in the NBL1 South.
After a number of impressive showings with United across the NBL preseason, Vickerman believes ‘TK’ has a bright future ahead of him with Melbourne.
“TK is the type of player you always look out for: a versatile defender who plays a high-IQ brand of basketball,” Vickerman continued.
“He’s been with us across the preseason and has shown that he can contribute when called upon.”
Playing alongside long-time friend Campbell Blogg, Koppens, 20, helped the Sabres reach the conference championship game with averages of 9.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, while shooting the ball at over 40% from downtown.
With less than two weeks until the start of the NBL season, the excitement surrounding Melbourne United is at an all-time high.
Less than 200 tickets remaining for Throwdown XXI and nearly all of Melbourne United Membership packages sold out, the time is now to get involved and BRING THE BLUE.
