Melbourne United partner with DoorDash to deliver meals for every dunk

Melbourne United is excited to announce it will partner with DoorDash in a collaboration set to provide thousands of meals through FoodBank.
DoorDash, who feature prominently on United’s NBL23 playing kit, are set to donate $250 to FoodBank, which equates to 500 meals, for each and every dunk a Melbourne player throws down across the NBL23 season.
Melbourne United CEO Nick Truelson voiced his excitement about the partnership as he prepares for Melbourne’s first home game on Sunday 2 October.
“We are delighted that DoorDash has stepped up its partnership with the team by becoming a major partner as well as broadening the opportunity of playing our community role together by collaborating with Foodbank,” he said.
“With our club's purpose focused on using the power of basketball to inspire, entertain and enrich our community, we couldn’t think of a better way to showcase this mission and give back to those in need than with the partnership with DoorDash and Foodbank.”
DoorDash General Manager in Australia and New Zealand Rebecca Burrows discussed the immense importance DoorDash places on creating meaningful and inspiring partnerships for the wider community.
“Our mission is to grow and empower local economies, so we are always looking for ways to use our platform to make a difference in the communities we serve,” she continued
“Basketball is seeing phenomenal growth across the country and we’re excited to connect with fans and show how DoorDash can be the premier delivery partner for every basketball occasion on and off the court.
“When devising the exciting partnership with Melbourne United, we are pleased to have been able to lend our support to Foodbank who is delivering significant support for Australians in need and in times of crisis, particularly with the current financial pressures brought on by the pandemic and the rising cost of living. We are proud to be making a small contribution to those Australians who rely on this service.”
Matt Tilley, Chief Communications Officer at Foodbank, spoke about the incredible network of corporate and community partners the organisation has built since its inception over 90 years ago.
“As the state’s oldest and largest provider of food relief, our mission is to source and distribute healthy food to those in need. For us, every dollar donated is two meals created. So together with DoorDash and Melbourne United we hope to feed thousands of families across the NBL season - that’s a slam dunk any way you look at it”.
To celebrate the launch of the partnership and Melbourne United's Membership week, DoorDash are offering existing members a one-off 25% discount code for their DoorDash orders. The special code has been sent to United members and any new members who joins Melbourne United this week will also receive the same offer.
DoorDash will also continue to have the naming rights of the Throwdown series in partnership with both United and the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
