THE CHAMPS ARE BACK!
Following the recent announcement by the Victorian Government, Melbourne United is excited to say that John Cain Arena will be allowed 100% of its capacity from the start of the NBL22 season.
As of 3pm Thursday November 25, fans can secure seats to see Melbourne United chase history in front of a full John Cain Arena. The club’s first three home games, all in December 2021, will be on sale via ticketek.com.au.
The remaining home games of Melbourne United’s schedule will be released at a later date, once the fixture has been confirmed by the NBL.
With Melbourne United’s successful NBL21 Playoff run coming to an end only a few months ago (a run that resulted in a Championship-winning clean sweep of the Perth Wildcats), the team is set to ride the wave of momentum towards another successful season.
Fans will get to see a new-look team built by Head Coach Dean Vickerman, and once again led by captain Chris Goulding.
NBA Champion, Olympic medallist and all-time Australian basketball great Matthew Dellavedova will suit up in front of an NBL crowd for the first time in NBL22. New additions like the Next Star dunk-show Ariel Hukporti, Nigerian national player Caleb Agada, veterans Brad Newley and David Barlow, and exciting youngster David Okwera are all set to produce endless highlight plays for the Melbourne fans.
Jo Lual-Acuil Jr is already looking like a superstar (watch him dominate the Breakers in the preseason here) as he enters the starting line-up, while the three-headed monster of Goulding, Delly and Agada will be causing the rest of the league trouble all season. Fan-favourite Victorian-native Jack White is also nearing a return from the achilles injury that ended his NBL21 season, just as the dynamic forward was hitting peak form.
With so many stars lining up, the best way to experience it all, is to be there LIVE. With tickets for the first three home games on sale as of 3pm Thursday November 25, fans will need to get in quickly to avoid missing out.
United fan’s first opportunity to see their side play on their home court will be on December 12, as Melbourne host Throwdown XIII against the South East Melbourne Phoenix at the family-friendly time-slot of 1pm. This game is a can’t miss, as it will also feature the unveiling of the NBL21 Championship banner.
United will then renew its age-old rivalry with the Sydney Kings on Thursday, December 16, and then suit up once more that weekend, with yet another Sunday afternoon blockbuster on December 19, this time against the New Zealand Breakers and their roster of international talent.
