Melbourne United unveil NBL23 Indigenous Uniform

Melbourne United are thrilled to reveal its new bespoke uniforms for the 2022-23 Hungry Jack NBL Indigenous Round.
Designed by Steve Ulula Parker, a proud descendent of the Boonwurrung, Yorta Yorta and Erub Torres Strait Island, the uniform displays a map of part of the Kulin Nation, where Melbourne United call home.
Originally painted as a canvas, the design centralises around Narrm (Melbourne), indicated by the dark grey meeting circles in the centre of the jersey behind the wordmark NARRM, as well as the white meeting circles that represent the club’s home in Cheltenham, further south in Boonwurrung Country.
Boonwurrung Country is made up by the two bays, Nairm (Port Phillip Bay) and Murranbiik (Western Port Bay), and from between Millowl (Phillip Island) to Warmoon (Wilsons Promontory).
The design shows the footprints of the old animals that once roamed Nairm before the great waters rose and flooded the bays.
The point of view taken of Country is from the eyes of Bunjil, whose outline is integrated into the design on the shorts.
Travelling as a wedge-tailed eagle, Bunjil is always looking over us to make sure we are protecting the land and the children on Boonwurrung land.
Melbourne United will wear the jerseys for their pair of Round 11 home games against the South East Melbourne Phoenix on 15 December and the Illawarra Hawks on 18 December.
Tickets to both games remain available here.
