Melbourne United have dropped their final game of Round 7

Melbourne United’s three-game winning streak has come to an end at the hands of the New Zealand Breakers.

It was a difficult start to the game for United, who quickly found themselves training by double digits thanks to the hot shooting of New Zealand.

Shea Ili and Tanner Krebs were able to cut into the lead with a pair of mid-range jumpers before the latter connected on a long-range look.

Ultimately, the opening 10 minutes belonged to the Breakers, who went up by 12 points after the first period.

Needing a spark, Melbourne ratcheted up their defensive pressure, forcing turnovers and scoring out on the break.

The visitors were able to find an answer to this however, moving the ball and shooting the lights out to extend their advantage out to 24 points going into half-time.

While Melbourne showed a strong ability to score the ball in the third quarter, New Zealand looked close to unstoppable, connecting in close and from deep.

This culminated in a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Matt Mooney which put the visitors up by 32 points going into the final term.

While late buckets from the likes of Chris Goulding, Flynn Cameron and Jack White kept the crowd loud, the deficit was ultimately too much to overcome, with United going down 79-113.

United will next hit the court in a road clash with the Brisbane Bullets on Thursday evening at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The game will be streamed live on ESPN via Kayo from 8pm.
