Chris Goulding put together United's greatest ever scoring game on Saturday evening

Melbourne United have beaten the Perth Wildcats in an unforgettable comeback performance as part of Indigenous Round.

It was a back and forth contest early, with both sides trading the lead.

Rob Loe was strong inside, swatting a shot leading to a Shea Ili fast break, while Chris Goulding knocked down his first three-ball of the night.

Marcus Lee got in on the action, finishing an and-one layup before skying high for an alley-oop slam to help Melbourne gain some momentum.

This culminated in a Tanner Krebs triple to close the period, putting United up 31-29.

While Melbourne looked to push out their lead, Perth got hot from all over the court, going up by as many as 17 points on the back of great shooting from the likes of Izan Almansa and Kristian Doolittle.

United did cut into the deficit to close the quarter, going into half-time down 51-65.

Melbourne were forced to adjust to start the second half, as Jack White was ruled out for the remainder of the game with a calf complaint.

Needing a spark, Goulding went to another level, catching fire to a level only he can.

United’s captain went on a run of 22 straight points, including six threes, each sending the crowd into greater and greater hysterics.

CG43 ended the quarter with 25 points, which, combined with the team’s lockdown defensive effort, helped Melbourne flip the lead and take an 83-77 advantage into the final frame.

Firmly in control of all the momentum, United continued to roll, with Goulding leading the charge.

The sharpshooter finished the game with a United career-high 46 points and nine three pointers, as Melbourne blazed away to finish with a 106-97.

46 is the most points ever scored by a player in United’s history.

Melbourne will be back on the court at John Cain Arena for their lone game of Round 9 against the Adelaide 36ers from 2:30pm on Sunday 17 November.
