What has been described as one of the most talented Australian scrimmages ever took place at Melbourne United’s home of Hoop City Cheltenham on Wednesday afternoon.
As MU opened their NBL24 training camp, so too did the team welcome in a quartet of Aussie NBA stars for their practice.
Former Melbourne United stars Jock Landale and Jack White, along with OKC Thunder guard Josh Giddey and New Orleans Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels took to the court to battle it out against United’s NBL24 lineup, producing spectacular performances all over the court.
In the thick of the action was Matthew Dellavedova as part of his first full day of scrimmages since returning to Australia from his season with the Sacramento Kings.
Speaking to media after the practice, Dellavedova said it was great for him and his teammates to challenge themselves against such elite competition.

“It was fun, great competition,” he said.
“First time having the group together but definitely competitive and good to get a good hit out against quality opposition… There’s not many places where you’re going to get good quality organised pick up better than this.
“It’s great to get the boys ready for Boomers camp and it’s great for the United boys to play against quality opposition as well.”
These sentiments were echoed by Head Coach Dean Vickerman, who was thrilled to be able to help his side, as well as assist the group of potential Boomers ahead of their FIBA World Cup training camp.
HEAR VICKERMAN'S THOUGHTS ON THE SCRIMMAGE HERE:
“Giddey and Dyson have been working out at Hoop City and Jock and Whitey come back and always want to be involved in whatever we’re doing if they possibly can because they believe it helps them get better,” he explained.
“So to have the four of them on one team for a run… We always want to be open to helping the Boomers campaign, and the Tall Blacks campaign.”
