Okwera joins Boomers squad for Asia Cup

Melbourne United young gun David Okwera has been selected in the Australian Boomers squad for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup in Indonesia.
This will be Okwera’s third time suiting up for the Boomers, after helping Australia qualify for the Asia Cup earlier in 2022.
Okwera touched on his excitement following the announcement.
“Representing Australia has always been my biggest basketball dream and it’s an honour to have the opportunity to wear the green and gold again.”
Okwera appeared sparingly for United across NBL22, only taking the court in eight games, but always made an impact.
The 19 year old became the youngest Australian to score double digits in an NBL game since Joe Ingles in United’s first game of the season.
Okwera is one of eight NBL players to have been named to the squad, which will play its first game of the tournament against Jordan next Tuesday July 12th at 6pm AEST.
