Relive Freeman’s incredible Olympic triumph

Arguably the greatest moment in Australian Olympic history, anyone who watched Cathy Freeman’s Gold Medal victory at the 2000 Sydney Olympics will never forget the emotion associated with that race.
Having lit the cauldron at the opening ceremony, Freeman showed her class in the lead up to the 400 metre final, winning all three of her heats and posting the fastest time of the games to that point.
Still, with the weight of the nation on her shoulders, it would take her best effort to overcome the likes of Jamaica and Great Britain.
Lining up in lane 6, Freeman got off to a blistering start, setting a pace that not many could maintain through the first 300 metres.
Needing to give her all, the final straight turned into a coronation for the iconic runner, pulling away to become the first ever Australian Indigenous athlete to claim a Gold Medal.
Excitingly, those in attendance at Melbourne United’s United in Business (UIB) Major Luncheon will get the opportunity to hear from Freeman all about that moment when she takes to the stage at CENTREPIECE on June 7.
For your chance to be a part of this, tables of 10 remain available for $3,500, while single seats are on sale for $375.
