Following the announcement of a five-day lockdown in Victoria, the NBL has announced that tomorrow’s game between Melbourne United and the Cairns Taipans at Bendigo Stadium has been postponed.

Details of the rescheduled event will be communicated once released by the NBL.

Melbourne United apologise for any inconvenience caused, but like all events of this nature, we are subject to the ever changing and unpredictable COVID-19 landscape.

More information regarding tickets to this game will be communicated in due course. Until then, ticket holders may request a refund via the Ticketek website if they wish.

Melbourne United CEO Vince Crivelli said: “The safety of our community is and always will be our number one priority. We will continue in our team’s preparations and look forward to taking the court again as soon as possible.

“Our thoughts are with all Victorians as we embark on yet another lockdown, but we are confident that we shall get through this together.

“We would like to thank the City of Greater Bendigo for playing host to our opening two home games, and we look forward to working with all of our stakeholders in the region as we continue to build a home away from home for our organisation.”

NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said: “At this stage we are still planning to proceed with the NBL Cup in Melbourne starting on Saturday February 20 and we will continue to monitor the situation in Victoria over the coming days and be guided by the advice of the relevant health authorities and the potential impact of any border and other restrictions.

“We wish all Victorians well during what is another challenging period for everyone. Like all sports, we have had to navigate a number of challenges but we remain committed to proceeding with our season and will continue to remain flexible in our scheduling to achieve this.

“We thank everyone for their ongoing support, in particular our clubs, players and officials who continue to be resolute in meeting all of the challenges presented to them.”
