Time to Unite: Melbourne United clinch finals berth
It’s time to Unite, Melbourne fans.
Following the results of last night’s 8-point win against the Perth Wildcats, Melbourne United have clinched a top-2 position in the Hungry Jack’s NBL 2021 finals.
As such, Melbourne United have today launched the Time to Unite campaign.
Now is the time for Melbourne United fans to unite behind our city, behind your team. With only three Melbourne United home games remaining during the regular season, fans and members alike are being encouraged to get to John Cain Arena and show their support.
The team will now turn their attention to locking in top spot, an achievement which would secure home-court advantage throughout the finals; an advantage that has proved crucial in recent seasons.
Head Coach Dean Vickerman encouraged all fans to turn up and show their support.
“We really do feel as though this is our time,” Vickerman said.
“This team has been working so hard all year and are really showing signs of what they’re capable of. Now is the time for all Melbourne United fans to get to our home games, with only three remaining at John Cain Arena in the regular season.”
Next up, Melbourne United play the South East Melbourne Phoenix in Throwdown IX. Vickerman called upon the fans to get to the game and play their part in the rivalry.
“We need our fans. They (Phoenix fans) were into some of our players, so we want to make sure our group has got our back.”
After dropping 24 points in the win against Perth, Chris Goulding also looked forward to the upcoming game against the Phoenix.
“We switch our attention now, because we have a game on Sunday at home,” Goulding said in the post-match press conference.
“Cross-town rival, Throwdown. Hopefully we can get a big crowd into our home arena and really feel that support from our home fans, who can help get us another win.”
