Travers, Bowen, Chance, set for reunion

Written by Melbourne United Media
With a collection of new faces coming into Melbourne United next season, having some familiarity surrounding players can be incredibly helpful.
This will be the case for the talented young forward pairing of Luke Travers and Kyle Bowen, as well as Assistant Coach Jacob Chance, who share a history through their time together in Western Australia.
The trio go way back to their junior basketball days in Perth, before collaborating closely as part of Wildcat’s 2019 NBL Championship team.
Speaking to MU Media, Chance said being able to reunite with Travers and Bowen, or ‘LT’ and ‘KB’ as he calls them, was a big reason as to why he signed on to coach at Melbourne United.
“It was a big draw card for me,” he said.
“LT and I have known each other for a long time, we played for the same junior basketball club. I’m really excited to get back working with him, I feel as though we made some great progress together in Perth, and seeing what he’s achieved over the past couple of years has been awesome, so I’m looking forward to helping achieve his dreams and goals.
“Likewise to work with ‘KB’ as he starts his professional career after a great few years at St Mary’s is great.
“He’s someone I was pretty close with and recruited hard to try and come out and play in the NBL so to have him here in Melbourne has me really excited.”
Both Travers and Bowen are currently in America, with the former working hard on his game prior to NBA Summer League, where it is expected he will suit up for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
