Fresh off an NBA Summer League Championship with Cleveland last week, Luke Travers is already back on the court working to grow his game ahead of his Melbourne United debut.
Having made the move to Melbourne in one of the biggest Free Agency moves of the offseason, Travers joined the team last week following his stint in Las Vegas.
Surrounded by elite talent at all positions, Travers touched on how working with a pair of Australian Boomers legends in Matthew Dellavedova and Chris Goulding is already helping him grow on the court.
“Having a bit more of the ball is something that I wanted to do… It’s a good bunch of guys with a lot of experience as well, so to be able to pick their brains anytime I can is something that I want to do,” he told Daniel Harford on RSN927.
“He (Dellavedova) has done it at the top level so to be able to pick his brain in that part, on how to succeed at the top level is something that I’m going to make the most of.
“The last couple of days at training he’s been helping me in any way that he can, as has CG (Chris Goulding). Those two have been awesome for me and I’m looking forward to a whole season with them.”
While Travers is set to remain with United throughout the rest of the preseason, Dellavedova and Goulding will both join the Boomers training camp next week in Cairns as the pair look to secure their spots on Australia’s FIBA World Cup team.
With so much excitement already surrounding United’s group, the time is now to make sure you’re in attendance at John Cain Arena when their campaign kicks off on September 28 against the SEM Phoenix.
