Melbourne United is excited to unveil our new uniform for the Hungry Jack’s NBL25 Heritage Round.
The design is a nod to the uniform worn by Melbourne United stars in our inaugural season, 10 years ago in 2014. The 2014 uniform, also worn during an NBL Heritage Round, paid tribute to the 1953 Victorian State Team.
The 2014 team was a lineup filled with local legends, such as David Barlow, Mark Worthington and Nate Tomlinson, as well as high-flying imports Jordan Mcrae and Stephen Dennis.
Now, 11 seasons on, our current group will hit the court wearing the updated and refreshed uniform when we take on the Brisbane Bullets at John Cain Arena on 8 December from 2:30pm.
The design carries over the state’s iconic Navy Blue and the ‘VICTORIA’ wordmark across the chest, as well as a classic scoop-neck collar and white pinstripes. Melbourne United’s new statemark is also present on the side of the shorts, which represents the club’s connection to the entire state of Victoria.
Head Coach Dean Vickerman said he can’t wait to see his group take to John Cain Arena floor in the uniform.
“It’s always special to pay homage to those that came before you,” he explained.
“Those teams and those players, like David Barlow, laid the foundation for where we are as an organisation today.
“With this uniform, we are proud to represent and unite the entire basketball community within Victoria. That’s something important for guys like myself, Jack (White), Delly (Matthew Dellavedova) and Rhys Carter having all come from regional Victoria.”
Fans can purchase the jerseys 20 November from 10am via our merch store.
