Melbourne United is excited to announce that thanks to major sponsor, Trojan Tools, we are set to prepare and deliver thousands of free meals to frontline charities across Victoria through the ‘Points for Plates’ initiative.
For the NBL25 season, United and Trojan have partnered with Plantfulness and FareShare to donate one meal for every point the team scores.
The initiative is one that Melbourne United CEO, Nick Truelson, is proud to be a part of.
“At Melbourne United, our purpose is to use the power of basketball to inspire, entertain and enrich people’s lives,” he explained.
“We’re incredibly proud to be helping to battle food instability thanks to this initiative with Trojan, and their charity partners Plantfulness and FareShare.
“It makes every point we score mean a little bit more knowing it’s making a difference on a grander scale.”
Trojan Tools Marketing Communications Manager, Genevieve Bolzon echoed Truelson’s sentiments and elaborated on the purpose of Points for Plates.
“We’re excited to launch this initiative with Melbourne United and our charity partners, Plantfulness and FareShare, creating an opportunity to give back through each point scored throughout the NBL25 season.”
“With so many Australians struggling due to cost of living pressures, it’s crucial for us to offer support where it’s needed most. Through this initiative, we’ll be providing fresh and nutritious meals to people doing it tough to help improve their quality of life.”
“We’ve seen firsthand the incredible work of Plantfulness and FareShare, making them the perfect organisations to team up with for this initiative.”
At the conclusion of the season, a team of United, Trojan and Plantfulness staff will come together at FareShare’s Abbottsford Kitchen, to cook all the meals that have accumulated across NBL25.
