MU will face the Bullets, Hawks and Kings on the Gold Coast.

Melbourne United’s three opponents for the upcoming NBL Blitz on the Gold Coast have been revealed this morning.

United will bring its superstar-filled lineup to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre to face the Brisbane Bullets, Illawarra Hawks and Sydney Kings across the six-day tournament.

Speaking to MU Media, Head Coach Dean Vickerman says he can’t wait to get his group on the floor for the preseason tournament.

“It’s always exciting to get up to the Blitz and have the last proper hit-out before the season starts,” he said.

“With the potential to have Matthew Dellavedova, Chris Goulding, Shea Ili and Flyn Cameron playing in the World Cup, these games are crucial for us.

“This is the last opportunity to really get a feel for how your lineups look and feel against the league competition, so we’ll use this to test our group and hopefully come away with a few wins.

“It’s going to be fun to be back up on the Gold Coast. I know from the past that they love their hoops up there so I hope we get some great crowds.”

As it has been for the past few years, the winning team via a points system will be awarded the Loggins-Bruton Cup, while the tournament’s most outstanding player will take home the Ray Borner Medal.

Games are worth a maximum of 7 points, with 3 points awarded to the winning team and 1 point awarded to the side that wins each quarter. In the event a quarter is tied, both teams receive half a point, while if a game goes into overtime, no additional points are awarded.

All games will be live and free on Kayo Freebies.
