The 29-year-old will look to bring poise and toughness to United’s lineup

Melbourne United have continued our roster build for NBL26, securing the signature of 199-game veteran Fabijan Krslovic for the next two seasons.

A Championship contributor with Tasmania in NBL24, Krslovic comes into the lineup with a wealth of experience within the league.

Speaking to Melbourne United Media, the big-man touched on his excitement to suit up in blue inside of John Cain Arena.

“Throughout my entire time in the league, Melbourne has been the club that I feel like has been held to the highest standard, so the opportunity to be a part of that was massive for me,” he explained.

“Getting able to speak to the whole coaching staff and the front office, the vibe and the feeling I got from the club was something that was really exciting to come into.

“Playing against Melbourne over the years,  the games were always so intense and so physical, I got a good idea of the type of basketball Melbourne wanted to play and I feel like it was a great fit for me.

“Melbourne has always been an in your face, hard nosed, defensive team. That’s the sort of basketball I love to play and I can’t wait to get down there and start the work.”

Standing 203cm tall, Krslovic has consistently ranked among the league’s best per-minute rebounders, using his size and craft in the paint to pull down timely boards at both ends.

Having coached against the NSW-born bruiser for a number of years, Head Coach Dean Vickerman believes Krslovic will bring his trademark toughness into our NBL26 lineup.

“We were looking for a combo big that had the ability to play both at the 5 and at the 4 position and we were really looking for rebounding toughness.

“I thought Fab, over these past few years when there was a hard ball to be won in key moments of games, had the ability to come up with it.

“You look at how he rebounds, he’s always a step ahead, he’s a guy that hits first and can use his strength to carve out space. There’s a real relentlessness in that area of his game.

“He’s then got the ability to space the floor and is continuing to develop his shot, and when he’s making shots he’s super dangerous on the court.

“He’s such a willing team offensive contributor in the way that he screens, as a passer, and as a super tough competitor.”

Krslovic is currently playing in Germany for Phoenix Hagan, averaging 8.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 43.8% from three-point range.

Krslovic joins Chris Goulding, Shea Ili, Tanner Krebs, Kyle Bowen and Dash Daniels (Next Star) as rostered players for the NBL26 season.
