White to take flight with Nuggets in NBA Summer League

Melbourne United star forward Jack White is set to join one of the NBA’s best teams for the upcoming Vegas Summer League.

Fresh off his first Boomers selection, it’s been announced that White will suit up for the Denver Nuggets for NBA Summer League, which will kick off on July 7th.

White, 24, is coming off a stellar season with United, having averaged career-highs in points, rebounds and shooting percentage, all while helping guide Melbourne to a top-of-the-table regular season.

Speaking to MU Media, White touched on his anticipation ahead of the opportunity.

“I’m super excited to be with Denver for Summer League, they’re obviously a top notch organisation that has had great success on the individual and team level.

“This is an amazing opportunity for me to take another step towards living out my dream of playing in the NBA, so I couldn’t be more grateful to the Nuggets for giving me a shot.

“I’m super excited to make my way over to Vegas and give it all I’ve got, I can’t wait.”

Few players have impacted winning quite as much as White across his time with United, having amassed a 29-7 record in his two seasons with the club.

Head Coach Dean Vickerman says when it comes to making winning plays, Jack White is an elite contributor.

“We’re so excited for Jack to get this opportunity to go over and show the world his skill at NBA Summer League with Denver.

“He’s shown himself to be one of the top athletes, defenders, and winning players in the NBL, so now is the time for him to showcase his ability against some of the world’s best.

“Over the past two years his development has been incredible to watch, especially coming off the injury, so I couldn’t be more happy for him. I know he’s going to take this opportunity and run with it.”

Prior to flying to the US, White will make his Australian Boomers debut next week against China on Thursday at John Cain Arena.
